Shell is a global group of energy and petrochemical companies. With around 102,000 employees in more than 100 countries and territories, Shell helps to meet the world's growing demand for energy in economically, environmentally and socially responsible ways.

The UK is an important country for both our upstream and downstream businesses. Our upstream business produces around one tenth of the UK’s oil and gas and operates almost a fifth. Our downstream business operates the second-largest refinery in the UK and there are more than 900 Shell-branded service stations. In the UK we employ around 8,500 people directly, while indirectly supporting another 80,000 jobs nationwide.
